Rainey named MSC Women's Basketball Player of the Week Second week in a row for junior from Bowling Green, KY By Chris Wells News from Lindsey Wilson College LOUISVILLE, KY - For the second straight week, Lindsey Wilson Colleges Ashley Rainey is the Mid-South Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Conference officials announced the award on Monday, January 23, 2012. The weekly conference award is Rainey's third of the season and the sixth of her career. She also earned the award this season on December 19, 2011 and January 16, 2012. Rainey recorded a pair of double-doubles last week in road losses at Campbellsville University and St. Catharine College. The Bowling Green, KY, junior forward scored a season-high 35 points and pulled down 18 rebounds in the Blue Raiders' 77-65 loss at No. 18-ranked Campbellsville. Rainey made 16 of her 19 shots during the game and just missed her career-high by four points. On Saturday, Rainey scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in Lindsey Wilson's 81-76 loss at St. Catharine. She recorded her eighth double-double of the season despite playing just 21 minutes due to foul trouble. Rainey concluded the week making 71 percent (22-of-31) of her shots from the field. She made 10-of-14 (71.4 percent) from the free throw line and averaged 1.5 blocks per game. This season, Rainey is averaging 24.7 points and 12.3 rebounds per game.
