Driving Warning: Thick fog, thin skim of windshield ice early A.M. National Weather service in Louisville, KY, in addition to the Sage of Sycamore Springs, has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for South Central Kentucky, including CM 7-County area counties of Adair, Casey, Cumberland, Metcalfe Counties in South Central Kentucky Without saying it outloud, Sage suggests that protection of brass monkeys' precious danglings may be in order for February, 2012. -CM By Cynthia A Meyer SYCAMORE SPRINGS, KY (2011-01-10/12:34amCT) - You might want to give warning to your readers to leave a few minutes early in the morning, as there is thick fog out there tonight, (even a thin skim of ice on the windshield.) The fog reminded me of old folk wisdom that " A January fog will freeze a February dog..... " And although many do not believe in the folk wisdom handed down from generation to generation, I have seen it ring true more times than not. It seems the adage about "Thunder in the fall, no winter at all," is holding true this year, as I heard a low rumble from the Heavens during a rain shower back in November. So if this be the case, allow me a moment of my physic abilities to look into my crystal ball, and feel it is safe to say that the old Punxsutawney Groundhog will see his shadow come the first of next month. So be forewarned to have a good store of dry seasoned firewood in, a larder full of dried bean and bacon ( for a slow simmered pot of bean soup cooked on top the old woodstove) a sack of cornmeal, and all the other bare necessities of life to muddle through a few cold weeks yet to come later this winter. -Cynthia Meyer This story was posted on 2012-01-10 02:20:28
