The Holler, Ozark, KY, picture reminds her of family love story The young girl from Clear Springs met her future husband there. They later married, during the Big Flood, in July 1937, in Jeffersonville, IN, with the groom telling his bride they might never see Columbia again. 'Lucky for us,' the writer notes, 'they did, because McGaha Holler is to us what Clear Springs was to her: a cherished memory.' Comments re photo 40418. Life in the Holler A magical path By Margaret Acree The picture of the Clearsprings Road scene reminded me of the day I was visiting my mother, Emma McGaha and she wanted me to drive her over to Clear Springs. That was where she lived when she met and dated my dad, Nolen McGaha. I have a picture of them taken at, I believe she said, the church in the summer of 1936. I could see why she liked it there. It was a beautiful place,a lot like the place they settled after they married in McGaha Holler. It was so quiet and peaceful there. I learned a lot about Mom's tender and romantic side that day as she talked about meeting Dad and their courtship. She was smiling all the while as she remembered the details. They were married in July, 1937 in Jeffersonville, Indiana during the Big Flood. She said Dad told her they may not make it back to Columbia. Lucky for us they did because McGaha Holler is to us what Clear Springs was to her: a cherished memory. This story was posted on 2011-05-16 09:39:10
