Candlelight Vigil for Hillary Hadley

By Richard Raines

I'd just like to say how proud I was of the young people of our community last night at the candlelight vigil.

The vast majority stood in line up to an hour or more to shake hands or hug Maxie and Kathy. I'm also proud of the many adults that stood in line; I know many of them had to be up early to go to work today.

People like to complain about young people; well this group showed that they had had some "raising" in how to act at times like this.

Thanks to Shamaree Claiborne, Melladee and Tim Allen and others who got this ceremony together.

I'd also like to say thanks to Tom Case for being a gracious host, passing out and taking up candles and helping in any way he could.

I know he didn''t come to Adair County until Hillary's 3rd year of college, but he was out there helping in any way he could, just like "family."

Let's all remember to keep Maxie, Kathy, Hannah, and Bart in our prayers in the upcoming days and weeks. I know the next little while will be a rough time for them. -Richard Raines
