DECATUR, AL - Lindsey Wilson College completed its part of the plan with a 5-0 win against Bellevue (NE) University on Monday at the Wilson Morgan Softball Complex. Now it's up to Concordia (OR) University to send the Blue Raiders into the round of eight at the NAIA Softball National Championship.

Concordia plays Simon Fraser (BC) University at 4:30pmCT. A win by the Cavs would put them, Lindsey Wilson and Simon Frasfer in a three-way tie at 2-1 in pool play.

Using a run-differential tie breaker, Lindsey Wilson will advance to the round of eight with a Concordia win.

There is a run rule in place that does not allow a team to win by more than eight runs. As it stands now, the Blue Raiders are plus-seven, Simon Fraser is at plus-six and Concordia is at minus-three in run differential. An 8-0 Concordia win would only put them at plus-five.

Against Bellevue, the game came down to an early offensive surge by the Blue Raiders and the strong start by Morgan Paschall in the circle.

Paschall earned the win, throwing 6.0 innings with six strikeouts while scattering just three hits.

When the Bruins finally started touching the junior lefty in the seventh inning and had runners on second and third base, Anyibell Ramirez entered the game and struck out three straight batters to seal the win.

Shortstop Jamie Williams continued to crush the ball for Lindsey Wilson. The sophomore went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored on a pair of doubles. Left fielder Alexis Rodgers finished with two hits as well with an RBI, run scored and a double.

There was a lot to like for Lindsey Wilson in the bottom of the first inning. Rodgers led things off with a single to shallow left field, followed by right fielder Megan Huckaby reaching first on a fielder's choice that moved Rodgers to third.

Then Williams went to work with a rocket shot to deep left field that scored Rodgers and Huckaby to take an early 2-0 lead. Catcher Ally Goniea singled in the next at bat to send Williams over to third allowing first baseman Kelly McCarty to lay down a perfect squeeze bunt to put the Blue Raiders in front 3-0.

Lindsey Wilson added another run in the third and sixth innings, while holding the Bruins scoreless without any real chances despite the brief surge in the top of the seventh inning.

Bellevue finished with three hits and two errors in the field, while Lindsey Wilson tallied nine hits and played error-free defense.

Catcher Kendra Gansz highlighted the Bellevue offense, going 2-for-3 with a double.

If Concordia beats Simon Fraser at 4:30pmCT, Lindsey Wilson will return to action in the eight team double-elimination portion of the NAIA Championship at 9pmCT on Monday, May 24, 2010, at the Wilson Morgan Softball Complex, 300 Beltline RD, SE, Decatur, AL
