Members of the Lindsey Wilson College Singers gathered Wednesday night in the John B. Begley Chapel for the program's 11th-annual "Signing of the Standards of Excellence."

Created more than a decade ago by the group's officers, the ceremony is an annual event in which the choral group's members pledge to hold themselves and the group to high artistic, intellectual, spiritual and personal standards.

In addition to performing several times a year on campus and in the community, the Lindsey Wilson Singers, under the direction of Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Programs Gerald L. Chafin, make a performance tour each spring to a region of the United States.

The theme for this year's Singers is "Energy, Intensity and Passion." In addition to hearing from their 2009-10 officers, the 33 members of the Singers also signed their names to the group's Standards of Excellence, then sung a prayer a cappella in the glow of candlelight.
