Obituary: Lorene Meadows Pierce, 81, Green Co., KY

Mrs. Pierce was a member of the Beech Grove baptist Church and was retired from Americna Needlecraft and C&F Custom Quilting

Mrs. Lorene Meadows Pierce of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Nathan Meadows and Della Mae Posey Meadows, was born on May 19, 1928 in Green County and departed this life on Monday, June 15, 2009 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. She was 81 years and 28 days of age.

The funeral services for Mrs. Lorene Meadows Pierce will be conducted at 11:00amCT, Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 South Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Greensburg Cemetery, North Main Street. Bro. Mark Graham, Bro. James Walker and Keith Clements will be officiating. Visitation is requested from 3:00pm to 9pmCT, Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at the funeral home and after 7amCT, Thursday, June 18, 2009, until time of the funeral service.



She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church. She was retired from American Needlecraft and C&F Custom Quilting where she worked as a seamstress and was a homemaker.

She united in marriage to Edward Alvin Pierce on March 16, 1947 who survives.

Other survivors are as follows:
  • A daughter and son-in-law: Ada Mae and Larry Handy of Greensburg, KY

  • Three granddaughters: Cathy Froggett and her husband Alan of Greensburg, KY; Laura Handy of Florida; and Stacy Matney and her husband Tony Jr.. of Greensburg, KY

  • Four great-grandchildren: Adriauna Handy, D'Ante Starks and Laurian Starks all of Florida and Mason Froggett of Greensburg

  • A sister-in-law: Cymbelline Meadows of Greensburg, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by a sister: Geneva Darnell; and a brother: Chester Meadows.
Memorials are suggested to the Gideon Bible Fund, Beech Grove Baptist Church Building Fund or Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Building Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.

PALLBEARERS: Keith Clements, James L. Darnell, Kenny Darnell, Mike Darnell, Jerry Pierce, Alan Froggett, Tony Matney, Jr., and Eddie Ervin.

HONORARY: Deacons and wives of the Beech Grove Baptist Church; Clell Gentry, Arzo Miller.
