Feedback: Pellyton vista scene is magnificent

About: Scenic, Magicial Adair County: Evans Place at Pellyton
To the editor, CM:

Yes indeed; the recent photograph by Ms. Betty Sue Jasper of a Pellyton vista scene is magnificent.

Pellyton is named in honor of my early Pelley ancestral family members who were pioneers in Adair County, Kentucky.

My fourth-great-grandmother, the late Asenath Pelley Neet, is the daughter of James Pelley. James was militarily engaged during the War of the American Revolution. He lived his last years in North Carolina. Many of his children moved to the northeastern area of Adair County in the very early 19th century. Members of the James Pelley family settled in the proximity of Pellyton! #Many contemporary members of the Pelley family now spell their name, Pelly.

My ancestors, Asenath Pelley Neet and her husband, John Neet, moved from Adair County to Carroll County, Missouri after 1849. John is the son of Rudolph Neat and Maria Margaretha Frey Neat. Neatsville is named in honor of the historic personage of Rudolph Neat. I am very proud that Pellyton and Neatsville bear the names of my historic Adair County forbears!

Neat is the preferred spelling of my ancestral family name in Adair County.

Neet is the preferred spelling of my ancestral family name in Carroll County.

I always enjoy Ms. Jasper's splendid photography! Sometimes her photographs have a surreal quality.

s/E.H. Lepiarczyk
