Adair teachers Geisselhardt, Bradshaw, attend DC conference Two National Board Certified teachers among 400 from across USA to attend gathering Photo of Adair teachers with Congressman Lewis accompanies this story The Adair County District Title I Program provided PD funds, making it possible for Debbie Bradshaw and Pam Geisselhardt, both National Board Certified Teachers to attend the 2007 NBPTS National Conference and Exposition in Washington, DC. "This being one more example of the efforts being made in the local school district to provide quality training for teachers, in order that every child in our district may have a great teacher," Mrs. Geisselhartt said. She added, "It is no secret that great schools begin with great teachers! Research shows that the quality of a child's teacher is the most important factor in the academic success of that child. A quality teacher, and especially a string of quality teachers (3 to be exact) continues to positively affect a child throughout his academic career. Title I PD funds are helping all teachers become quality teachers." While at the NBPTS Conference, Mrs. Bradshaw and Mrs. Geisselhardt had the opportunity to talk with accomplished teachers from across the country. These more than 800 NBCTs not only got to exchange ideas among themselves, but also these two teachers, along with about 400 fellow educators, spent a day on Capitol Hill meeting with congressmen and staff members discussing No Child Left Behind and its impact on student learning, engagement, and achievement. Mrs. Geisselhardt and Mrs. Bradshaw also attended several of the more than 70 sessions that provided intensive professional development presented by prominent education leaders and other stakeholders. NBCTs Andrea Peterson and Kimberly Oliver, the 2007 and 2006 National Teachers of the Year, and Ron Clark, who has been called "America's Educator," headlined the list of keynote speakers they were privileged to hear. Both Mrs. Bradshaw and Mrs. Geisselhardt agreed that "the entire conference was a powerful experience and professional development that will positively impact our schools, our district, and most importantly, our students."
