Duck Race will benefit Parks & Recreation

By Greg Thomas

The Columbia Parks and Recreations board is sponsoring the first Great Columbia "Quacky, Wacky" Duck Race. Instead of purchasing a ticket on the Holland Grill from Reeders Appliances you will be given a number that will correspond with a numbered rubber duck the day of the race.

The Duck race will be held on Monday, September 3, 2007, and will start around the Russell Creek Bridge area going into Green Hills and the finish line will be around the Russell Creek Bridge on KY 206. The first duck to cross the line will be the winner. You do not have to be present to win.

The cost of a duck is $5.00 and you will have a chance to win a Holland Grill from Reeders Appliances in Russell Springs valued at around $550.00. Ducks may be purchased at Grimsely's Jewelry, Thomas Photography, Columbia City Hall, and Reeders in Russell Springs. Funds raised from this will go toward the betterment of the park system in Columbia.
