Family Resource and Youth Services Centers honored The week through February 14, 2025 was designated as "FRYSC Coordinators Appreciation Week" by the City of Columbia. Mayor Pam Hoots shared the following proclamation: WHEREAS: Family Resource and Youth Services Centers remove the non-academic barriers to student achievement, bridge the gaps to needed resources, and collaborate the resources of schools and communities for the success of students, families, and communities; WHEREAS: Family Resource and Youth Services Centers utilize strengthened community and school partnerships in their ability to provide vital programs, services, and referrals to students and their families. These partnerships are critical in efforts on behalf of students to promote: *Early learning and successful transition to school; *Academic achievement and well-being; and *Graduation and transition into adult life WHEREAS: the Kentucky Family Resource and Youth Services Centers have proven to be the most successful part of the Kentucky Education Reform Act of 1990; WHEREAS: Over 1,200 or approximately 99% of eligible schools now utilize school and community resources through the on-campus Family Resource and Youth Services Centers; with these centers servicing 632,498 of Kentucky's children and their families. WHEREAS: Family Resource and Youth Services Centers develop a system of support in their local communities and provide opportunities for children, families, and the community that all the students to learn and the community to thrive; WHEREAS: Family Resource and Youth Services Coordinator Appreciation Week, celebrated from February 10th through February 14th, 2025, recognizes, raises awareness of, and celebrates the more than 961 Family Resource and Youth Services Centers and the coordinators across the Commonwealth and the critical role they address in the success of students, families, and schools.
