June 1958: When John Lair performed in Columbia

John Lair with Renfro Valley Barn Dance performed in Columbia on 5 June 1958. Here's the text of the Adair County News Article from 4 June 1958 about the show, titled "Renfro Valley Group To Appear Here Tomorrow":
Tomorrow night, Thursday, June 5, John Lair, with his Radio and TV stars of the Renfro Valley Barn Dance, will appear here in person at_8:00 p.m. in_the Adair County High School auditorium.

Mr. Lair is the founder of the well-known group heard by thousands each Sunday morning.

Appearing with Mr. Lair are such well known persons as Old Joe Clark, Russ and Joe Fisher, Boyd Ingram, "Slim" Miller, with his fancy fiddle playing and an unlimited store of gags and jokes, and many others.

The Renfro Valley Barn Dance is being sponsored by the Kiwanis Club with proceeds going into the underprivileged childrens fund.

Tickets for both children and adults may te purchased from any Kiwanis Club member or at the News office.
