EDA Board of Directors welcome new members

By Dennis Crump, Editor, Adair Progress

The Adair County's Economic Development Authority (EDA) Chairman Larry Walker opened their June meeting discussion by recognizing the two new members, Rob Wilkerson and Michelle Powell. Powell was immediately selected for the position of treasurer.

EDA Consultant Heather Spoon was especially commended for her contributions toward bringing the new Martin's Peterbilt expansion into Adair County. Vice Chairman Mark Dykes was also recognized for his many years of honorable service with the board.

The proceeding continued with votes to approve the minutes the previous (May 21) EDA board meeting. The treasurer delivered her financial report and the board reviewed the payment of various bills. Subsequently, members of the board approved the treasurer's report.

During the session, Chairman Walker led the meeting through deliberations concerning recent issues (including the Peterbilt expansion) such as the status of utility services (water, sewer and gas) to portions of the Green River Industrial Park and construction of a second entrance for south side of the park. These work projects have been funded by grants through the Kentucky Product Development Initiative (KPDI) and Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA).

The next regular meeting of the EDA Board of Directors is scheduled for Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 8amCT, in the same location, 201 Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY.
