May declared Older Americans Month

Columbia Mayor Pamela Hoots and Adair Co. Deputy Judge Executive Bridget Compton signed a proclamation on Monday, April 29, 2024, declaring May 2024 as Older Americans' Month in Columbia and Adair County.

They were joined at a signing ceremony by healthcare professionals from TJ Health Columbia, Personal Touch Home Health, Intrepid Home Health, The Adair County Senior Center, The Support Agency, The Ole Homeplace Adult Day Health Care, Adair Friends & Neighbors Adult Day Health Center, Amedysis Home Health, and Summit Manor.

The theme of 2024 Older Americans Month is: Powered by Connection
As Judge of Adair County and Mayor of Columbia, KY, we honor our older citizens.
  • Whereas, May is a time for us to recognize and honor older adults and their positive influence on our country and city.

  • Whereas, our community benefits from the wisdom and guidance of our older citizens of which there are 3,655 in Adair Co. in 2024.

  • Now, therefore, we do hereby proclaim May 2024 as Older American Month in Adair County and Columbia, Kentucky and call upon all residents to join us in recognizing the contributions of all our older citizens and promoting programs and activities that foster connection, inclusion, that fight ageism and support older adults.
