Ricky L. Coomer, 68, Adair Co., KY native (1955-2024)

Ricky Lane Coomer of Marrowbone passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at his residence, with his family by his side. He was 68 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 11amCT on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. Roger McKinney and Bro. Jerry Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, and will continue Saturday until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral home.


Mr. Coomer was born in Adair County, KY on December 20, 1955, to the late Coy Odell and Mary Magdalene Morrison Coomer.

He was of the Christian faith and made a career drilling oil and water wells all over the state for Jimmy Reliford Drilling and Joe Balance Drilling. He enjoyed hunting, being outdoors, staying at his cabin and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Karron Norris Coomer of Marrowbone, KY; two children Mickel Norris (Sheri) of Breeding, KY and Tammy Pruitt (Greg) of Marrowbone, KY; a sister Janice England of Columbia, KY; seven grandchildren Josh Norris, Cassie Dyer (Trevor), Zoey Morris, Gabby Sandlin (Dillon), Wesley Smith, Coy Pruitt, and Maggie Pruitt; four great grandchildren Eliza and Genie Jo Smith and Chesney and Kori Anne Dyer; several other friends and relatives also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother Dennis Odell Coomer, his maternal grandparents Jessie Allen and Etter Burbridge Morrison, and his paternal grandparents Johnny Roy "Buck" and Exie Parrish Coomer.

Pallbearers will be Tim Abston, E. J. Petty, Ricky Bledsoe, Larry Reliford, Blake Helm, and Nathan Hickman. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Norris, Billy Morrison, Travis Coomer, Terry Bennett, Richard Coomer, Ray Moore, and Donald "Duck" Coomer.
