The genie is out of the bottle - AI here to stay David Goguen, Professor and Program Coordinator for Journalism and Media Studies at Lindsey Wilson College, said, “The genie is out of the bottle. We can either adapt to AI, or resist it. It is the wave of the future.” He shared his research on Chat GPT, one of the new AI (artificial intelligence) programs, at the recent Adair County Arts Council meeting. He is working to make sure his students understand and use the new software responsibly and fairly. He demonstrated with two examples - one was a prompt given to the AI program - "Oil painting, Woman and Child, in the style of High Renaissance, Tenebrism lighting, clean sharp focus, 16:9 ratio." Results can be seen in the accompanying photo. Two imaginative self-portraits were created, visualizing how an Al might perceive itself. These artworks blend abstract and technological elements, featuring visual metaphors like neural networks and circuit patterns, to represent the AI's essence and its contemplative view on existence and role. In each result, it is the human prompt that determines the end result. This story was posted on 2024-04-11 09:45:17
