By Sheriff Josh Brockman
Adair County Sheriff's Office

An investigation was begun when Sheriff Josh Brockman was contacted by a special investigator with Child Protective Services about the possible abuse of an 8 week old infant.

The investigation quickly led to enough evidence for the Adair Co. District Judge to grant temporary removal of the child from the parents primary care, to ensure the safety of the child while the investigation continued.

After a lengthy investigation, warrants was obtained and executed for the arrest of an Adair County man and woman.

19 year old Mackenna Wheeler and 20 year old Jordan Nye were both lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail on felony charges of 2nd degree Criminal Abuse of a minor under 12.

Sheriff Brockman was assisted by Deputy Emily Wall , Deputy Josh Durbin, Child Protective Services, and the University of Kentucky Hospital Pediatric Forensic Review Team.
