New swing a result of businesses and individuals

Learning how to be properly prepared, how to plan a project and communicate effectively with others...

By Ty Coleman, Scout Troop 185

I have recently completed my Eagle Scout Project! I worked with JOY Ministries and installed a metal swing for their women’s and children’s home called Ruth’s House.

I would like to thank those who lent their time, resources, and expertise. This project could not have been completed without their generosity.

FabCo and Mid-State Ready Mix donated the swing and concrete.

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the project including Gabe Coleman, Gilead and Ransom Konsavage, Owen Davis, Xander Makranszky, and Lucas Thompson but especially Mark Jones and Gerald Lucas who both volunteered without me asking them. I really enjoyed how they taught me to properly pour cement.

Through this experience I have learned how to be properly prepared. I learned how to plan a project and communicate effectively with others. I had a few setbacks throughout the project like having to rent a jackhammer to get past a large rock in one of the holes.

I was able to use the leadership skills I have gained through Scouting and sharpened them even more. The project was super fun to lead.

It is exciting to be so close to getting the highest rank in Scouts! Thank you for all the help from people in the community.
