Coa Jane Phipps, 60, librarian at ACHS and Sparksville

Mrs. Phipps was a member of the the Columbia Baptist Church
Coa Jane Phipps, 60, 200 East 80 DR, Columbia, KY, passed away Monday, January 9, 2006, at 1:30 p.m., at her home after an illness.

The funeral service will be Thursday, January 12, 2006, at at 1:00 p.m., at Columbia Baptist Church, with Brother Randy Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery at Sparksville, KY. Visitation will be at Stotts Phelps-Funeral Home after 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, and Thursday morning, after 9:00 a.m., January 12, at the Columbia Baptist Church.


She was the daughter of the late Joe Bryant and Icel Beatrice Strange Keen.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Joe Keen, on July 14, 1979, and Glenn Strange Keen, on May 8, 1987.

She is survived by her husband, Codell Phipps, Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • Two daughters and sons-in-law: Keena Jo and Dr. Anthony Grant, Columbia, KY; and Jan Dell and Stephen Marshall, Lexington, KY

  • Three step-sons and and their spouses: Donnie Phipps and his wife Pam, Columbia; Timothy Phipps and wife Gail, Barbourville; and Dale Phipps and his wife, Jennifer, Corbin, KY

  • Two step-daughters and their spouses: Kim Terrell and her husband Randy, Barbourville, KY; and Vickie Moore and her husband Chuck, Corbin, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Riley Grant, Linsey Grant, and Lauren Grant

  • Several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren

  • Sister-in-law: Montra Keen

  • Nieces: Alice Curry and Margueritte Willis

  • Nephews: Stephen Keen and Daniel Keen

  • And special friends Gene and Lavern Jessee
Coa Jane Phipps was a member of Columbia Baptist Church and a retired librarian whose career included service at Adair County High School and Sparksville Elementary School.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Cancer Society or Columbia Baptist Church Library and may be made at the funeral home.
