Adair Co. Academic Team Results from Governor's Cup State Adair County Academic Teams were in competition at the State Championships over the weekend of March 17-20, 2023. The Future Problem Solving team from Adair County Middle School took 7th place overall in the State, competing on the topic of A Throwaway Society. The ACMS FPS team consisted of Hannah Kotter, Natalea Kaylor, Sarah Goforth, and Suzy Kotter. In addition, Christopher Armenti accomplished the colossal task of ranking among the state's best individual competitors by capturing 8th overall in the State in the Social Studies competition. For perspective on the level of team and individual achievement at this event, the first rounds of competition at the District phase kick-starts Governor's Cup with well over 1000 competitors statewide. The FPS team was also represented in the Alternates competition, pairing up with other individuals from qualifying teams across the state to compete on the same topic as the team competition. ACMS student Riley Andrew and her team earned 3rd Place in the division. The Adair County High School team was represented by Bailey Watts, who advanced all the way to the Quarterfinals in the Individual Quick Recall competition, a new event added to State Finals weekend this year. The Adair County Middle School Quick Recall team put up a good fight in their rounds of competition, being placed by way of a random draw into a group that featured the eventual 3rd and 4th Place teams in the state. Attendees at State competition this weekend were Hannah Kotter, Natalea Kaylor, Christopher Armenti, Pierce Stotts, Sarah Goforth, Riley Andrew, Daria Cheng, Summer Graziano, Elaine Cook, and Bailey Watts.
