ACSO: Adair man flown to UL after collision

On Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 3:12pm, Adair County 911 received a call of injury accident on KY551 near the Adair/Casey line.

Upon arrival at the scene, Deputy Tracy McCarrol and Sheriff Josh Brockman found that a 2013 Toyota truck being operated by Anthony Wolford of Casey County had attempted to pass Gerry Wethington, of Adair County, who was operating a 3390 Ford Tractor.

The collision resulted in the tractor being broken in half and Wethington being ejected. Wethington was airlifted from the old Knifley Grade School parking lot after being treated on scene by Adair EMS. He was flown to University of Louisville Hospital by Air-Evac.

After investigation of the collision, Wolford was arrested.


He was charged with:
  • 1- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs
  • 2- Wanton endangerment
  • 3- Assault 1st degree
Wolford was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail after medical clearance from the hospital.

The investigation is being conducted by Deputy Tracy McCarol, who was assisted by Sheriff Josh Brockman. Adair 911, the Knifley Fire Department, Adair County EMS, Air Evac and the Adair County Sheriff's Office all responded to the incident.
