Football: LWC hosts Bethel in top-10 showdown The No. 3-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team is set to host No. 6 Bethel (TN) in a top-10 matchup at Parnell Family Stadium on Saturday, October 29, 2022. Kickoff is slated for 1:30pmCT. Both the Blue Raiders (7-0, 5-0 MSC) and the Wildcats (8-0, 5-0 MSC) come into the contest undefeated and atop the Mid-South Conference standings. The pair share three common opponents this season in Cumberlands (KY), Campbellsville (KY), and Thomas More (KY). Lindsey Wilson won 37-10, 21-12, and 12-3, respectively as Bethel won 43-13, 39-31, and 57-7, respectively. Lindsey Wilson and Bethel each rank in the NAIA's Top 10 in defensive scoring, total defense, and passing defense. The Wildcats own two Top-10 wins this season, beating No. 9 Reinhardt (Ga.) and No. 8-ranked Georgetown (KY). With four sacks last week, the Lindsey Wilson defense has an NAIA-leading 38 this season. The Blue Raiders are one sack from tying the program's single-season record of 39, set in 2021. Lindsey Wilson leads the nation in defense giving up just 44 points (6.3 per game) on the season. Bethel is 10th in the nation in scoring averaging 41.1 points per outing. The Wildcats yield just 12.4 points per game which is the sixth-best in the nation. It is the ninth meeting between the two programs with LWC winning the last year's meeting in McKenzie, Tennessee 41-30. The Blue Raiders have won three straight matchups and hold a 6-2 record against the Wildcats all time. At Parnell Family Stadium the pair have each won two contests. Lindsey Wilson has won 28 straight games against Mid-South Conference opponents. Luke Bowman is four tackles away from the all-time program lead. His 317 career tackles are second on the all-time list behind Trent Mueller's 320. Noel Patterson is 11 yards away from 1,000 career receiving yards. He currently has 989 receiving yards. Ethan Cash is 144 passing yards away from 1,000 for his career. He has 856 career passing yards entering Saturday's game.
