CPD: Man charged with wanton endangerment

On Monday night, October 24, 2022, officers from the Columbia Police Deaprtment responded to Grissom Street after receiving a call from parents who stated that a neighbor had pointed a handgun at their 16 year old son while he was walking a dog.

Officers made contact with a male subject at his residence on Pyles Court. The man admitted he drew a handgun on the juvenile, stating that he thought the juvenile was in his yard, before then stating to officers that he wasn't sure if the 16 year old was actually on his property.


Douglas Lawson, 61, of Columbia was placed into custody and charged with menacing as well as wanton endangerment 1st degree; a class D felony.

Officer Holly Necessary was the arresting Officer. She was assisted on scene by Sgt Drew Conn.
