James Howard Bell, 97, Casey County, KY (1925-2022)

James Howard Bell died peacefully at home with his loving wife by his side on August 16, 2022, in Liberty, KY, at the age of 97.

He will be remembered most for his love and faithfulness to the Lord. He loved to pray for his family and spoke often about sharing Heaven with them. Howard was a dedicated member of Mt. Pleasant Church and loved his Pastor and church family. He was a Veteran in the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was presented with a Quilt of Valor in May 2022 for his service. He was a hard worker. He enjoyed working in the garden, mowing the lawn, tractors, and being outdoors. He especially loved sitting on the porch and watching his Martins.



Howard married Geneva, the love of his life, on December 29th in 1948. They shared 73 years & 8 beautiful months together. Howard was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He treasured his grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. Howard was born on May 22, 1925, at Elmwood Place in Cincinnati, OH, to Clyde Bell & Grace Foster Bell. Howard is survived by his spouse, Geneva Joreen Helm Bell; three sons, Garry (Debbie) Bell, Larry Bell & Barry Bell; grandchildren, Ashley, Fletcher, Sarah, Shelby, Scherriden, Jakie, Jerika & Ellie; and great grandchildren, Raegyn, Brantley, Greyson, Georgia, Briar, Natalie, Hunter, Timberlynn, Roland, Emmett & Madeleine.

In addition to his parents, Howard is preceded in death by one great grandchild, Matthew Rylan Lynn; and one brother, Paul Bell.

The funeral service will be held at 1pmET on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Patton officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Casey County Veterans Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Garry Bell, Fletcher Bell, Jakie Bell, Matthew Lynn, Ronnie Sharp, Dustin Hampton, and Buel Helm.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Sellers, Charles Norfleet, Randall Davis, Larry Bell, Barry Bell, Ronald Helm, Roger Helm, and Gerald Helm.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery c/o Dale Sellers at 7198 W KY 70, Liberty, KY 42539.
