Excellence in Teaching Awards in Taylor County Campbellsville University's Excellence in Teaching Award Program honored 218 teachers throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky from 76 districts and/or private schools. Included in the winners are teachers from Campbellsville, Kentucky Christian Academy and Taylor County schools. Taylor County's Local teachers honored this year are: Campbellsville - Kirby Smith, superintendent; Lindsey Muncie, Campbellsville Elementary School; Mary Wilkerson, Campbellsville Middle School; and Erin Arnett, Campbellsville High School. Muncie, of Campbellsville, Ky., teaches kindergarten at Campbellsville Elementary School. She formerly taught at Kentucky Christian Academy. She received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Campbellsville University in 2009. She earned her literary specialist from the University of the Cumberlands in 2018. She is a 2004 graduate of Campbellsville High School. She is the daughter of Kathy and Larry Strange of Campbellsville, Ky. She is married to Jeffery Muncie, and they have two children: Ava and Cale Muncie. Wilkerson, of Campbellsville, Ky., has taught special education at Campbellsville Middle School since 1989. She received her bachelor of science degree from Campbellsville College in 1984. She received her 5th year degree from Western Kentucky University in 1989. She is a 1980 graduate of Campbellsville High School. She is the daughter of Mary Wilkerson of Campbellsville and the late Lark Wilkerson. Arnett, of Greensburg, Ky., teaches sixth-12th grade agriculture at Campbellsville High School. She formerly taught at Anderson County High School from 2015 until 2020. From Murray State University, she received her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Education in 2015. She is working toward a Master's in Agriculture Sciences at Murray State University. She is a 2012 graduate of Taylor County High School. She is the daughter of Lisa and John Underwood of Greensburg, Ky. She is married to Ryan Arnett, and they have two children: Bryer and Branch Arnett. Kentucky Christian Academy - Alicia Riggs, Administrator; Erica Young, Kentucky Christian Academy. Young, of Campbellsville, Ky., teaches preschool at Kentucky Christian Academy. She received her associates degree from Elizabethtown Community College in 2005. She is a 2003 graduate of Taylor County High School. She is married to Kyle Young, and they have two children: Easton and Kip Young. Taylor County - Charles Higdon Jr., superintendent; Gabrielle Downey, Taylor County Primary Center; Hanna Lobb, Taylor County Middle School; and Ashley Neal, Taylor County High School. Downey, of Columbia, Ky., has taught first grade at Taylor County Primary Center since 2017. She formerly taught kindergarten at Adair County Primary Center from 2015 until 2017. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Lindsey Wilson College in 2015 and her Master of Arts from the University of the Cumberlands in 2017. She is a 2011 graduate of Adair County High School. She is the daughter of Gina and Johnny Harmon of Columbia, Ky. She is married to Chad Downey, and they have one child, Emmie. Lobb, of Campbellsville, Ky., has taught math at Taylor County Middle School since 2012. She received her degree in secondary math education from Campbellsville University in 2012. She received her master's degree from the University of the Cumberlands in 2015. She graduated from Campbellsville University in 2022 with her Rank I. She is a 2008 graduate of Taylor County High School. She is the daughter of Melissa and Danny Williams. She is married to Colton Lobb, and they have two children: Jonah and Evelyn. Neal, of Campbellsville, Ky., has taught English at Taylor County High School since 2017. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Campbellsville University in 2016.
