Update: Parkway closed in both directions

The westbound lane of The Cumberland Parkway is currently closed due to a multiple vehicle accident between Adair and Metcalfe counties. Units are currently on scene from multiple agencies. Plan to detour and use caution until the scene is clear.

Update from Kentucky State Police Post 15: KSP is currently on the scene of a two vehicle injury collision on the Cumberland Parkway east bound at the 41mile marker The roadway is currently closed while Troopers are on scene conducting the investigation. The east bound lane will be closed for approximately 6-8 hours. The west bound lane will be closed for approximately 2 hours.

Motorists travelling east or west between Columbia and Edmonton should take Hwy 80.

Parkway shut down, traffic backing up

Columbia Police Chief Jr Murphy asks that motorists reroute due to the collision on the LBN Cumberland Parkway. Westbound traffic on the Parkway needs to re-route on Hwy West 80.

Motorist Will White took this photo while he was stuck in the slow lane of the LBN unable to move until two semis in the fast lane could move. He reports having just been able to cross the median and head to Edmonton.

Lanes open around site of milk truck accident

Both eastbound lanes going from Edmonton toward Columbia are open around the site of yesterday's milk truck accident, only these rails are broken and blocked marking the site.

There is reason to drive with caution along the LBN Cumberland Parkway, however, as road construction reduces traffic to one lane on the westbound route heading from Columbia toward Glasgow.
