Spinks named Outstanding Agricultural Education Student

Susan Spinks received the Outstanding Agricultural Education Student Award from the WKU Department of Agriculture and Food Science on Sunday, April 24, 2022. Dr. Thomas Kingery, mentor and professor, presented the award.

Susan is the daughter of Ronny and Julie Spinks, and the granddaughter of Ronny and Sharon Spinks and Richard and Beth Grant. Susan is a senior from Columbia, KY, with a concentration in agricultural education and certificate in Deaf Studies. While at WKU she has been consistently on the Dean's list and involved in extracurricular activities.


Susan has represented the Department of Agriculture at National FFA Convention, Kentucky State FFA Convention, the Kentucky FFA Leadership Training Center, ASSET, WKU Field Day and other recruitment/retention events. She has been an Agriculture Ambassador and a member of the Agricultural Education Society for four years, serving as President of the AES her junior year.

She is currently completing her student teaching at Taylor County High School and plans to seek employment as a full-time agriculture teacher in Kentucky.
