Virginia D. Shelton, 89, Summersville, KY (1932-2021)

Virginia D. Shelton of Summersville passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at her home. She was 89 years old.

The funeral services for Virginia D. Shelton will be conducted at 10amCT on Friday, September 3, 2021 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main St., Greensburg, KY, with Bro. Dennis Penick officiating. Burial will follow in the Aetna Grove Cemetery.

Visitation is requested from 4pmCT until 8pmCT on Thursday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, and will continue after 7amCT on Friday until time of the funeral service.


Virginia D. Shelton, daughter of the late Roger Shelton and Lachia Skaggs Shelton, was born on Thursday, July 14, 1932 in Green County, Kentucky.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Holly Grove Baptist Church. She was also a retired supply clerk for Fort Knox.

Besides her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by a brother: Leroy Shelton on April 2, 2021.

Survivors include a sister-in-law: Lucendia Shelton of Summersville; nieces and nephews: Hilda and Marvin Janes, Robbie and Jennifer Shelton, and Jeffery and Lisa Shelton all of Green County; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews; other relatives and friends.
