Sam Bingham Holmes, 94, Columbia, KY (1927-2021) Sam Bingham Holmes of Columbia passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY. He was 94 years old. Funeral services will be held at 2pmCT on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY. Burial will follow in the Haven Hill Cemetery, with military honors provided by VFW Post 6097. Visitation will be on Sunday after 11amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. Mr. Holmes was born on May 27, 1927 in Columbia, KY to the late Leslie and Clarice Goodin Holmes. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Allene McKinney Holmes. He was a member of the New Life for the Nations Church, a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Air Force and a 25 year member of the Kiwanis Club in Jeffersonville, IN. Sam enjoyed riding across the country on his motorcycle with his wife before her death in 2013. He also enjoyed fishing and helping others in need. He is survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by three siblings Tom Holmes, Russell Holmes and Elizabeth Burton.
