Rufus Johnson, 74, San Rafael, CA (1947-2020)

Rufus Johnson, formerly of Adair County, passed away on August 4, 2021 in San Rafael, California. He was 74 years old.

A graveside service will be held at 10amCT on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Johnson School Road, Columbia, with Bro. Sammy Hughes officiating.


He was born June 3, 1947, in Campbellsville, Kentucky, to the late Taylor Claude and Mary Martha Hunter Johnson. Rufus attended Durham High School in Campbellsville, was baptized in the Campbellsville First Baptist Church by Rev. Walter Johnson and was known for his ability to travel across the United States.

Survivors include:
  • One sister - Irene Duncan of Columbia
  • Two nephews - James Smith and Kenyatta Duncan both of Columbia
  • Seven great- nieces and great- nephews - Darby Fuqua, Avery Duncan, Noah Duncan, Kaylin Duncan, Adain Smith, Marli Smith and Ezra Smith
  • Two great-great nephews - Nicholas and Isaiah Fuqua
