LWC Basketball welcomes Campbellsville to town Saturday

By Brady Budke

The new year is set to bring a pair of big basketball matchups to Biggers Sports Center on Saturday, as the Lindsey Wilson men's and women's basketball teams will welcome rival Campbellsville University to town for the Battle of Highway 55. The women are slated to tipoff at NoonCT, while the men will follow shortly after at 2:30pmCT.

The No. 2-ranked Lady Tigers (7-0, 3-0 MSC) have corralled another solid start under head coach Ginger High Colvin. The squad dominated Cumberland (Tenn.) by a final of 93-49 on Thursday.

Savannah Gregory continues to anchor her team on both ends of the floor this season. Alongside averaging 16.7 points per game on 66.7 percent shooting from the field, Gregory has also pulled in team-highs of 5.8 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game. Sammy Rogers guides the scoring at 19.2 PPG, while Bailey Pedigo is dishing out six assists per contest to lead the conference. As a team, the Lady Tigers are averaging a conference-best 92.7 PPG, while limiting opponents to just 57.8 PPG in return.

As for No. 19 Lindsey Wilson (9-1, 4-1 MSC), the team garnered a convincing road victory over Georgetown (Ky.) on Thursday, dropping the Tigers by a score of 72-50.

Reagan Turner is scoring the ball at an efficient 22 PPG on 52.1 percent shooting from the field. Turner recorded 25 points in the win over Georgetown, securing her sixth 20+ point performance of the year. Sydnie Hall leads the conference with 30 made 3-pointers this season, while Bree Glover averages team-highs of 8.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game. Lindsey Wilson looks to break a skid of eight straight losses to Campbellsville.

Moving over to the men's side, the Tigers (5-3, 3-2 MSC) enter Columbia tomorrow after taking down Cumberland in a close 70-66 game on Thursday at home.

Taiveyhon Mason headlines the offensive side of the ball for Campbellsville, averaging 21.7 PPG. Mason has amassed four straight games of scoring 20+ points and two straight contests of dishing out eight assists. The Tigers notably notched an upset victory over No. 11 Cumberlands (Ky.) by a score of 76-75 back on Dec. 15, which means the squad is riding a strong two-game winning streak heading into tomorrow.

Lindsey Wilson (3-4, 1-3 MSC) steps back on the floor after dropping a road matchup to No. 6 Georgetown by a final of 80-68 on Thursday.

Elijah Jordan, Payton Cundiff, and Colen Gaynor have provided an offensive spark for the Blue Raiders so far this season. Jordan has corralled the team-high of 15.2 PPG on 50 percent shooting from the field. Cundiff has made 25 of the teams 44 total 3-pointers this season, where he drilled home seven in the loss to Georgetown. Gaynor averages 10.7 PPG and a team-high 8.4 RPG on the glass.

Live video and live stats will be available for both games. The women will begin action at Noon CT, while the men will begin shortly after at 2:30 p.m. CT. Please view the LWC Athletics Home Attendance Protocols for more information.
