CPD: Injury accident on the Bypass

By Officer Adam Cravens, PIO
Columbia Police Department

The Columbia Police Department responded to a two-vehicle injury accident on the Bypass at the Greensburg Street intersection Saturday morning.

The accident occurred when a grey Chevy Captiva, operated by Ralph Foster of Columbia, crossed the intersection from Highway 61 and into the direction of travel of a red Ford Explorer being driven by Melinda Cooney, of Louisville, who was on the Bypass northbound, according to witnesses.

After impact, both vehicles came to rest off the roadway onto separate shoulders.

Cooney, along with two passengers, was transported by Adair EMS to TJ Samson Columbia for possible injuries. Foster and one female passenger were later taken privately to TJ Samson to be checked out.

Officer Adam Cravens investigated the accident. He was assisted on scene by Officer Drew Conn and Deputy Brandon Hitch. The Columbia Adair County Fire Department also responded to the scene.
