Update on Rep. Bam Carney at mid-week visit

Shared by Dr. John Chowning

Mark Carney writes of his visit with his brother Bam: "I was able to enjoy another really good visit with Bam in Danville today. One of the highlights of the visit was showing him three poster boards of pictures that Kelly and Mackenzie put together. One board featured pictures of mainly family, one friends and the other co-workers and colleagues.

Since he can only have one visitor a day, this was a way for us to bring more “visitors” in the room with him.

I was able to tell him that while not everyone in the pictures had visited him back earlier at Norton’s I said most of these people had made visits to see him in Norton’s when visitors were allowed. He thought the pictures were really cool and since I didn’t know all the people on the poster of co-workers and colleagues, it was neat to hear from Bam who everyone was and where they were at and what they were doing when the picture was made. I’m so thankful that after all Bam has been through, God has still blessed him with a good mind.

I was also able to shave Bam and because I had some pictures of Bam with others on the boards I was able to look at the pictures and really zero in on his mustache and goatee and do what I thought was my best shaving job yet, Lol. Don’t worry I won’t be opening up a barber shop soon but I really enjoyed doing something for Bam. I also washed his hair and oh yes, I, like every other visitor got to rub and lotion his feet.

We also read some cards and he got to sit up in the chair for a little over an hour. The medical issue of the day was the infectious disease doctors telling us they found a pocket of fluid in the stomach area when reviewing the CT scan that was done yesterday. So as a result of this they put him back on antibiotics (they had taken him off of all antibiotics around a week ago) today and sent some blood culture to the lab.

They will determine over the next day or so if they will remove the fluid with a needle, put in another drain or just watch it for now. So tonight we ask you to pray for the infection to improve and pray for the infectious disease doctors as they decide their plan of action. We also ask that you join us in praying for his strength and nourishment to continue to improve. As always, continue to offer thanks and praise to God for each and every improvement we see.
