CPD: Pursuit leads to DUI charge

The Columbia Police Department made an arrest on Wednesday night, August 5, 2020, after a brief vehicle pursuit on Liberty Road.

Pursuit began when vehicle a refused to stop during an attempted traffic stop on Fairground Street, and the operator continued on into the county. The operator finally brought his vehicle to a stop on Walker Lane and was taken into custody.



Tyler Grooms, 29, of Columbia has been charged with fleeing and evading in a motor vehicle 1st degree, as well as operating under the influence, possession of marijuana and numerous traffic violations.

Grooms was transported to TJ Samson Columbia where he refused a blood draw.

Officer Trevor Foster was the arresting Officer. He was assisted on scene by Officer Jamie Cole and members of the Adair Sheriff's Office, including K-9 unit.
