By Jamie Neal

Frankfort, KY - Lebanon attorney Kaelin G. Reed was sworn in as a Circuit Court judge for Green, Marion, Taylor and Washington counties at a private investiture service May 26 at the Marion County Judicial Center. The counties make up the 11th Judicial Circuit. The governor appointed Judge Reed to serve the circuit's Division 2 after Judge Allan Ray Bertram retired in January.

Judge Jeremy M. Mattox, Judge Reed's law school classmate, performed the swearing in. Judge Mattox is the chief circuit judge for Bourbon, Scott and Woodford counties.

Judge Reed comes to the circuit bench after 14 years in private practice. Most recently, he was a founding member of Reed Law Office with his wife, Amanda.

He has been in private practice since earning his law degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2006. Judge Reed is a 2003 graduate of Transylvania University. He is a member the United Presbyterian Church of Lebanon and a supporter of public education and youth athletics. He is married to the former Amanda Cook of Lebanon and they have two children, Tanner, 9, and Kylie, 6.

A public reception for Judge Reed will take place later in accordance with the governor's guidelines for public events.
