Letter: A note of gratitude

On Friday, June 12, 2020, Adair County 911 received a call about from a scared parent about a missing 8-year-old. Summer sends a heartfelt thanks to the dispatchers, first responders and the community for coming together to offer support and help quickly locate him.

By Summer

I want to thank EVERY SINGLE PERSON who came out to help find my son. I can never express in words how truly thankful I am that during the scariest time in my life I had so many beautiful people helping to find him. Praise the Lord for every one of you!!!

I called and searched for my son and his dogs in all the usual places he likes to play and when my wonderful neighbors heard my repeated distressed calls they immediately joined me to help look for him. We all looked everywhere we could think of, even on neighboring property, before I called 911.

Thank you to all my wonderful neighbors who helped me look for him!!

I was such a wreck when I called 911 that I could hardly speak at times. Thankfully, there was a sweet soul on the other end of the phone who remained calm and reassuring and she helped me to calm down a bit so I could describe my boy. She took the information and within minutes of hanging up, a couple of sheriffs and then the first responders arrived to help.

Thank you so much to the sweet lady who took my 911 call.

It was unbelievable how fast everyone arrived. They asked me a few questions, formed a plan and immediately carried it out.

About 40 minute later my son was found. Praise Jesus! Thank you, thank you, thank you to the person who called in about seeing my son.

Thank you sheriffs, first responders and everyone who came to come help find my son. Your professional skills and level heads helped find my boy. I will never forget what you all did for us. BLESS YOU!

My part was to sit and wait. THAT WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO DO. My sweet neighbor sat with me the whole time and when my mind started to wonder to the possibility of what could have happened she reeled me right back in. We said several little prayers. More ladies showed up to give me their support. Unbelievable community support!

Thank you to all the wonderful ladies for all your support. I will never forget it!

In all my life I have never experienced anything like what happened that day. Everyone was so compassionate, kind, concerned and in no way made me feel to blame just comforted. Since that day, I can not tell you how many time I have thanked Jesus for this amazing community I recently moved to.

You have shown me what love of community is supposed to be about.

I can't help but think that much of our nation does not have community support right now.

Praise Jesus we moved here! I will never forget you all.
