LWC Swimming honors student-athletes with annual awards

By Christopher Coombs

The Lindsey Wilson swimming program held its annual awards banquet to honor the student-athletes' achievements and dedication to the swim program for the 2019-20 season.

Head coach Alicia Kemnitz is proud to honor the student-athletes in the program that have accomplished so much in and out of the pool.

"We had a wonderful and historic year as we were very competitive on the National level, especially for the men, but more than that, I'm very proud of how our team came together under unique and challenging circumstances this year." Kemnitz Said. "More than ever, I feel that we truly embraced our motto of "one heartbeat."

The honors given by the program are Weight Room King/Queen, most dedicated swimmer, Rookie of the Year, High Point Award, Four-Year Award and Swimmer of the Year.

For the Weight Room King/Queen honor, Jordan Schaffer and Sarah Hahn earned the honor for their dedication and efforts in the weight room. Jaye Farthing and Carlene Calvin Coetzee earned the Rookie of the Year award for their performances during their first season in the Blue Raider swim program.

The most dedicated swimmer award is to be awarded to the swimmers who gave their all during the season. Carlene Taylor and Tyler King were both honored for their contributions to the program.

Reece Kincaid and Jessica Macdonald both earned the High Point Award this season for their performances throughout the season. Macdonald was also named the program swimmer of the year.

Michael Peck, Tyler Glish, Hahn and Macdonald earned the Four Year Award for their contributions and dedication to the swim program over the past four years at Lindsey Wilson.

"It's particularly hard to say good-bye to our seniors this year not only because they are some of our most decorated student-athletes in terms of academic and athletic honors, but also because our time with them was cut short." Kemnitz Said. "I am so proud of each of their accomplishments and know that they are ready to leave LWC as well-rounded, talented adults."
