Farmers Market cleared to open 4 Apr 2020

The Adair County Farmers Market on the Square (FM2) is in preparation for the season to open Saturday April 4, 2020 at 8amCT. Good news has come that there will be no problems opening on schedule in reference to the coronavirus.

In a release from Commissioner of Agriculture, Dr. Ryan Quarles, he stipulates that "because farmers’ markets are retail enterprises that provide agriculturally-produced food products that consumers need, the Governor’s Order does not require you to shut down your farmers’ market."

Farmers are advised to continue to take appropriate measures to ensure social distancing and hygiene in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and the local health department, including the following practices:

• Setting up your market with a lay-out to maintain the recommended six-feet social-distancing;

• Following appropriate hygiene measures, including regular, thorough handwashing;

• Ensuring that your employees who are sick remain home, and telling sick customers to go home; and

• Cleaning and disinfecting frequently-touched objects and surfaces.
