Hosting international students is extraordinary opportunity

By Glen Hunt, host parent
LWC International Student Program

As a host family for Lindsey Wilson College, Kathy and I get an extraordinary opportunity to share our life experiences with young, international students from around the world. We attempt to share aspects of our cultural values without promoting the same. This is a continuous & very distinct exchange of information between the various cultures.

On Sunday, March 8, 2020, we had another opportunity to do exactly that as we took the ladies to Somerset, KY. After an excellent lunch at the "Mellow Mushroom", the ladies went shopping while we parked the trucks under a shady tree and took a well deserved nap in the spring-like weather. Isn't life grand?!!

Host families play a big part in introducing international students to American life. Sharing local and family traditions with international students will help them understand what America is all about.

They are young, they are here in Columbia, and they are eager to learn about American life beyond the college campus. This particular group of young ladies make up the LWC Tennis Team.
