By Grace Blomstedt

Defiance, OH - The Lindsey Wilson women's track and field team finished fourth at the Mid-South Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships at the George Smart Athletic Center.

The Blue Raiders finished the weekend with 95 points. Cumberlands (KY) took home the MSC crown garnering 166 points. Cumberland (TN) and Life (GA) finished in second and third with 158 and 137 points, respectively.

Lindsey Wilson was led by Safia Bright, who picked up two first place finishes, both in national A standard fashion. In the 60-meter dash she beat her previous meet record yet again, crossing the line in 7.41 seconds. The senior then broke the George Smart Athletic Center's previous record of 25.27 in the 200-meter dash by running a time of 24.94, finishing over half a second faster than the race's runner-up. Bright earned MSC first-team honors for both races.

Meredith Johnson picked up a couple of runner-up finishes for the Blue Raiders and received MSC second-team honors for each event. She recorded a time of 11:05.98 in the 3000-meter run. In the 1000-meter run the sophomore ran a time of 3:05.43 which beat the site's previous record of 3:14.43. Kirsten Crepps notched an eighth-place finish in the 1000-meter run with a time of 3:30.03.

Paige Pettell secured a second-place finish in the weight throw to go along with her win in the shot put yesterday. Pettell recorded a national B standard throw of 15.91 meters, besting the previous meet record of 15.11 which she set on February 17, 2018. She earned MSC second-team honors for the event while teammate De'jah Smith captured fourth place with a throw of 15.39 meters.

The Blue Raider 4x800 squad of Kayla Roeder, Kimberly Ramirez, Sarah Burton and Laura Cuin-Casimiro ran for a time of 11:04.66 which was good enough for a fourth-place finish.

Bailie Colcord, Crepps, Dezare Jackson, and Tatiana Williams ran for a time of 4:23.37 in the 4x400 relay to finish in sixth.

In the high jump, Williams recorded a jump of 1.40 meters to finish in seventh.

The Blue Raiders return to action March 5-7 at the NAIA Track & Field Indoor National Championships in Brookings, South Dakota.
