LWC Basketball returns home to face Shawnee State

The Lindsey Wilson men and women's basketball teams continue Mid-South Conference play tonight against Shawnee State (Ohio) at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY.

Tip-off for the No. 14-ranked women (13-3, 2-1 MSC) is slated for 6pmCT and will be followed by the No. 19-ranked men (12-5, 1-2 MSC) at 8pmCT.



The Lindsey Wilson women are coming off their second straight MSC win as they defeated Cumberland (Tenn.) 76-67 Monday night on the road. Reagan Turner led all scorers with 23 points and Jynea Harris added 20 points and a team-high nine rebounds.

The Blue Raiders currently rank seventh in the NAIA DI in total rebounds with 666 and ninth in total blocks with 62. LWC ranks 10th in total assists (245), steals (183), and scoring offense (1204). DeAsia Outlaw leads the team with 115 rebounds, 39 steals, and 35 blocks. Turner averages 18.3 points per game to lead the team and conference.

No. 7-ranked Shawnee State (17-1, 4-0 MSC) enters the match-up after defeating Georgetown (Ky.) 87-67 on Monday. SSU leads the nation in scoring margin (28.4) and total scoring offense (1575), while ranking third in total steals (243), total assists (282) and scoring offense per game (87.5). The Bears are led offensively by Bailey Cummins, averaging 17.7 points and 6.3 assists per game. Sydney King leads the team averaging 6.4 boards per game.

This marks the 25th meeting between the two programs. The Bears lead the series 19-5.

The Lindsey Wilson men return to action after falling to Cumberland 63-60 on Monday night. Reece Brooks recorded a team-high 18 points while Avery Edwards and Kel Stotts also contributed double-digit points with 13 and 10, respectively. Matthew Eldridge led the team with 12 rebounds.

The Blue Raiders rank third nationally in total three-pointers made (180), sixth in total scoring offense (1419) and ninth in total rebounds (652). Brooks leads the MSC averaging 19.8 points, while also leading LWC in total steals (27) and assists (86). Eldridge leads the Blue Raiders with an average of 7.4 rebounds.

Shawnee State (12-5, 2-2 MSC) travels to Columbia after falling to No.1-ranked Georgetown 67-60. The Bears rank first in the NAIA DI for blocks per game (7.0), total blocks (119), opponent field goal percentage (34.7) and total rebounds (767). EJ Onu leads the nation averaging 5.5 blocks per game while leading SSU with 7.4 rebounds per game. Kyree Elder averages 17.8 points and 7.3 rebounds for the Bears.

The meeting is the 22nd all-time between the two programs. LWC holds a 16-5 overall record and an 8-1 record at Biggers Sports Center.
