By Christopher Coombs

Marietta, GA - The No. 15-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team collected their first Mid-South Conference win of the season with an 86-71 win over Life (GA) on Saturday at the Hawks Nest.

Lindsey Wilson (12-3, 1-1 MSC) had four Blue Raiders score in double digits as they shot 48.4 percent from the floor. Reagan Turner led all scorers with 24 points adding five assists. DeAsia Outlaw and J'Nayah Hall finished with 16 points as Hall picked up a double-double adding a game-high 12 rebounds. Jynea Harris chipped in with 11 points.

Despite opening the game on a 10-0 run that saw five different Blue Raiders score over the opening four minutes the Running Eagles (7-6, 0-3 MSC) clawed their way back to trail by as few as three points at 14-11 with 58 seconds to play. Over the opening spurt, LWC managed to force five Life turnovers as well as limiting the Running Eagles to 0-of-6 from the field. A Turner two late in the action gave LWC a 16-11 advantage after one.

At 7:46 of the second quarter, Life took their first lead of the contest at 17-16. From there the quarter saw three lead changes and two ties. Neither team managed to build more than a three-point lead until Natalie Pierce knocked down a buzzer-beater three to close out the half. Her fifth point of the match gave LWC a 38-33 lead at the break.

Statistically, the first 20 minutes were evenly paced as Life shot an even 50 percent from the field to the Blue Raiders 48 percent. Both squads managed five steals while forcing 10 turnovers as LWC's Turner and Life's Sydni Tears each had 14 points.

The third quarter proved to be the difference-maker as LWC went on to outscore the Running Eagles 23-14 over the ten-minute span. Lindsey Wilson would juggle and eight to an 11 point lead over the first six minutes before a surge gave them a 16 point advantage with 26 seconds to play.

Leading 61-47 entering the final frame, the Blue Raiders took their largest lead of the afternoon at 86-63 - a 23 point advantage. Life closed out the game on an 8-0 run as LWC won it by a final of 86-71.

Lindsey Wilson continues MSC action on Monday when they travel to Lebanon, Tennessee to take on Cumberland (Tenn.) at 6 p.m. CT.
