By Brady Budke

The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team defeated Campbellsville University 77-63 on Saturday evening at Biggers Sports Center. The Blue Raiders caught fire from the field in the second half, connecting on 17-of-34 shooting for a 50 percent field goal percentage. The victory over the Tigers puts the Lindsey Wilson at 1-0 in the Mid-South Conference.

Reece Brooks scored a game-high 21 points and six assists, while Malik Hart chipped in 17 points and eight rebounds on 6-of-10 shooting. Matthew Eldridge recorded 13 points and six rebounds, as Kameron Mack notched 10 points and seven boards.

The Blue Raiders shot 46.8 percent from the floor as they connected on 29-of-62 attempts. The Tigers hit 24-of-55 attempts for a 43.6 percent field goal percentage.

Lindsey Wilson and Campbellsville began the game battling for the important upper hand, as the score read 15-14 with 10:46 remaining in favor of the Lindsey Wilson. The two teams continued to battle back and forth with high rivalry game intensity, as a Brooks three-pointer at 5:51 on the clock made it a 25-21 Blue Raiders lead. Lindsey Wilson completed a late first half surge thanks in part to multiple missed field goals down the stretch from Campbellsville, helping the Blue Raiders to take a 33-24 lead into the half.

Brooks led the first half scoring with 11 points, while Hart trailed close behind with nine points of his own on 3-of-4 shooting with two three-pointers. Ronald Taylor led the Tigers in scoring going into the half with nine points.

Lindsey Wilson came out of the halftime locker room hot, as they quickly expanded their lead to 15 after Mack connected on a three-pointer at 15:26 on the clock, forcing a Campbellsville timeout. The Blue Raiders continued to distance themselves from the Tigers, as they led by 19 with 9:07 left in the game after a Kel Stotts steal led to a Djibril Diagne layup on the other end of the floor. A corner three-pointer by Hart with just under four minutes remaining gave Lindsey Wilson their largest lead of 21, ultimately sealing a 77-63 victory in the Battle of Highway 55.

Lindsey Wilson is back in action on Saturday, December 14th where they travel to St. Louis, Missouri to take on Missouri Baptist. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m. CT.
