Neat family history road trip

By Dallas Neat

On Sunday morning, November 2, 2019, Don and Fran Neat and I started out on a trip to Rowan County, NC, in search of our ancestor, Hans Rudolph Neet, and his wife Barbara.

We arrived in Salisbury late Sunday afternoon and had enough daylight left to drive through the town and locate the library. We were there when it opened on Monday morning and were assisted by some very helpful ladies in the history room We spent the day there and located the land on a map that they settled on when they arrived there from Maryland. We didn't find Barbara's maiden name as we had hoped to.

The next morning we headed to Davies County and with the help of a kind man (Terry Burton) we were shown the land on which they had lived. We then spent some time in the library at Mocksville, the county seat Of Davies County which was taken from Rowan County. We were able to find Rudolph's signature on a document at the library in Mocksville.

We arrived back home late Tuesday night, worn out, but better informed about our ancestor. I want to thank Don and Fran for the trip and much help with the search.
