City of Columbia Mayor's Highlights from August, 2019 City of Columbia Mayor Pam Hoots shares a list of activities from the prior month at each Council meeting. At last night's September meeting, she provided the following list of projects working and/or completed for the month of August, 2019. Click 'read more' for the Mayor's list. August, 2019 By Mayor Pamela Hoots We have taken the flags down that were up for Memorial Day and 4th of July. At this time, we have been counting, replacing flags/poles, so that all could be in place for Labor Day weekend. We mowed and weed-eated at the park. Mowed/weed-eated at Trabue Russell Taking fence down at park and replacing. Cutting tree down at park which was damaged by lightening. Took back fence down at park and are storing. Put in security at Little League and city park. Picked up around 30 loads of brush. Cut down tree limbs in right of way, Tutt Street, Greensburg Street, etc. Met with the Community Involvement Group twice during month. One meeting with Decorating Committee (wreaths being revamped). Parks and Recreation; along with Garden Club and Lindsey Wilson College freshmen students did a project at the Jim Blair Center; cleaning and maintenance of shrubs and grounds. Hauled off debris. Parks and Recreation continues to monitor temperature at Jim Blair Center. Lots of days is set in high 60s with no one there. The tennis court was sealed and restriped. Nets pressure washed and side poles painted. Will be starting work for the volleyball court. Met with Lake Cumberland Area Development District Representative on several items. Held Back To School activity first week of August. Great crowd. Attended the Wares Fair at Lindsey Wilson College welcoming new students to the campus. Air conditioner repaired at city park pavilion. Striped Little League Park and back parking lot off of Burkesville Street. Cleaned up around gas department. Two loads of excess metal taken to scrap yard (paid and put into city account). Sidewalks beginning cleaned on Greensburg Street. Public works department trimmed trees on North 55. Billy Joe Fudge worked with them on project. Terry and Craig are working on the bridge in front Harris and Harris for repair. (probably build a new one later this fall). This story was posted on 2019-09-04 09:27:36
