LWC Football co-favorites to win MSC Bluegrass Div. By Chris Wells Lindsey Wilson football is a co-favorite to capture the Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Division in 2019 according to the MSC Preseason Coaches' Poll, conference officials announced on Friday. The Blue Raiders received 42 total voting points from the head coaches within the Bluegrass Division, including two of the eight first-place votes. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team. Lindsey Wilson is tied atop the preseason poll with Bluegrass newcomer Cumberlands (KY). The Patriots also received 42 voting points and a pair of first-place votes. In addition to Cumberlands, Pikeville (Ky.) moves from the Appalachian Division to the Bluegrass and Mid-South Conference newcomer Thomas More (Ky.) helps to form perhaps the toughest division in NAIA football from top-to-bottom. Lindsey Wilson is coming off a 7-3 season, including posting a 4-2 mark in the Bluegrass. Cumberlands finished second in the Appalachian last season, posting a 10-2 overall record and a 5-1 mark within its division. Defending Bluegrass Division champion Bethel (Tenn.) is third with 41 voting points and four first-place votes. Georgetown (Ky.) is fourth with 35 voting points while Campbellsville (Ky.) is fifth with 22 voting points. Pikeville (19 voting points), Cumberland (Tenn.) (16), and Thomas More (7) complete the preseason poll. Reinhardt (Ga.) is the favorite in the Appalachian while Southeastern (Fla.) is picked to win the Sun Division. Lindsey Wilson opens the 2019 season on Thursday, August 29, against Campbellsville in the annual Battle of Highway 55. Kickoff is set for at 7pmCT at Blue Raider Stadium.
