Letter: Blair Center Board says Thank You

Thank you Columbiamagazine.com for your support of the Blair Center Park and Recreation Board.

We are sorry the Board has been dissolved as we felt we were making improvements. I would like to thank all members for their contribution and their vision to our projects.

You were a great group to work with and accomplished a lot in our time together, including:

- A new gym floor
- A new security system inside and out
- New heating and cooling system inside the gym
- Blacktop of the parking lot and the walking track
- A book for children to read as they walk around the track
- Planting of almost 100 trees, for shade and to prevent soil erosion
- New playground equipment
- New tables and chairs
- Benches around the park on which to rest
- A new Monarch Butterfly Station with the Adair Garden Club
- Regular evaluation with those who used the center to discover new ways it could be improved for families to enjoy.

Thank you to our director, Lisa Handy, to Magistrate Greg Caldwell, vice chair Jelaine Harlow, treasurer Barbara Shepherd, secretary Pam Shearer and board members Damon Hicks, Jamie Hadley, Stephen Baker, Linda Waggener, Alicia Bosela, and Fiscal Court representatives Andrea Waggener and Melinda Quinn, who kept us on the straight and narrow about our financial situation.

Many have served over the years and Board members have had to come and go, but those I've named above served and gave much of themselves while I've been leader of the group.

Thank you,
Cynthia Rowe, Chairperson
Jim Blair Park and Recreation Board
