Hallmon wins second NAIA national title By Christopher Coombs Gulf Shores, AL - Kevin Hallmon won an individual national title to help the Lindsey Wilson men's track & field team to a sixth-place finish on Saturday at the 2019 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships held at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium. Hallmon outraced the field in today's 200-meter dash as he crossed the finish line in 20.55 seconds. His time was 0.12 tenths of a second faster than second place. The national title is Hallmon's second of his career as he also won the NAIA Indoor National Championship crown in the event earlier this season. The senior from Hinesville, Georgia also competed in the 100-meter dash where he just missed out on his second title of the day. Hallmon finished in second place by the narrowest of margins, 0.04 tenths of a second after racing to a 10.30 time. In total, Hallmon racked up 18 points for the Blue Raiders with his results as an individual. Upon the completion of the events Hallmon was named the Men's Outdoor Track & Field Most Valuable Performer for his performance over the three-day competition. Pierre Ezanno provided the third longest jump during the triple jump. During his fifth attempt, he posted a mark of 14.88-meters to cement his position on the podium. He earned six points towards the Lindsey Wilson team total. The Lindsey Wilson 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams also competed on Saturday to pick up a combined nine points. The Blue Raider quartet of Hallmon, Christian Whitehead, Holt Keeling, and Christian Davis posted a time of 40.38 seconds in the 4x100 relay. Tennessee Wesleyan won the race in 40.22 seconds. Lindsey Wilson earned six points for its finish. The pairing of Keeling, Whitehead, Jaylun Wallace and Hallmon would compete in the final event of the championship, the 4x400 relay, in sixth place. The time of 3:12.48 earned LWC three more team points. Lindsey Wilson completed the championships with 33 points to finish in sixth place. British Columbia captured the team title with 80 points. William Carey finished second with 53 points followed by Wayland Baptist with 43 points, Indiana Tech with 40 points and Oklahoma City 35 points. This story was posted on 2019-05-27 07:59:57
