LWC Softball travels to Campbellsville for MSC road action

The No. 5-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team is set to compete against No. 15-ranked Campbellsville (Ky.) on Saturday at 11amCT at Hord Softball Field, 1407 Old Hodgenville Road Campbellsville, KY.

Lindsey Wilson and Campbellsville were originally scheduled to play four-game series on Friday and Saturday but due to inclement weather in the area Friday's doubleheader was cancelled. With the cancellation, the Blue Raiders clinched the Mid-South Conference regular season title and the No.1 overall seed at the conference tournament.

The Blue Raiders (40-2, 19-1 MSC) return to action after defeating Kentucky Christian on Monday afternoon 12-4 and 13-3.


As a team, Lindsey Wilson averages 1.5 home runs per game to lead the NAIA as the Blue Raiders rank seventh in total RBIs with 297 this season. Boasting a 1.47 earned run average, the Blue Raiders sturdy pitching staff ranks sixth nationally.

Makea-Al Kaluau leads Lindsey Wilson in both home runs (14) and RBIs (52) while maintaining a batting average of .448. The reigning Mid-South Conference Player of the Week, Cassie Matlock is also getting it done at the plate with a .410 batting average. She has 30 RBIs and an on-base percentage of .426 so far this season.

Annabelle Ramirez spearheads the Blue Raider pitching staff with a .54 earned run average on 77.2 innings pitched with 110 strikeouts, while keeping opposing batters to a .110 batting average.

Campbellsville (30-9, 16-6 MSC) returns to the dirt after splitting their series with Cumberlands (Ky.) 2-2 on April 18 and April 22.

As a team, the Tigers power hitting matches the Blue Raiders with an average of 1.5 home runs per game to be ranked second in NAIA. Campbellsville ranks in the top-25 in the NAIA in RBIs per game average 5.9 RBIs. The Tigers bullpen is maintaining a 2.70 earned run average on 256.2 innings pitched with 183 strikeouts.

Payton Blades leads the Campbellsville offense with a .360 batting average while driving nine home runs and 36 RBIs. Tori Humphrey is adding in with a .306 batting average with 11 home runs and 39 RBIs.

Morgan Gailor leads the team with a 15-4 record with 106 strikeouts in 127.1 innings pitched and keeping opposing batters to a .245 batting average.

Last season, the Blue Raiders split the regular season games 2-2 with the Tigers before falling to Campbellsville in the Mid-South Conference Tournament winner's bracket 9-6.

First pitch is slated for 11amCT on Saturday, April 27 at Hord Softball Field in Campbellsville, Ky.
