LWC Softball travels to Midway on Tuesday

The Lindsey Wilson softball team travels to Midway (KY) on Tuesday, April 2 at 3pmCT at Clark Memorial Field.

The Blue Raiders (23-1) return to the dirt after sweeping Pikeville on Sunday 7-1, and 11-3. The two wins gave LWC their second Mid-South Conference series sweep of the season as they are a perfect 8-0 in the conference.


As a team, the Blue Raiders offense maintains a .348 batting average while driving in 158 RBIs with 35 home runs. Strong base running by Lindsey Wilson has led to 40 stolen bases on 42 attempts. Pitching for Lindsey Wilson boasts a strong 1.75 earned run average in 155.2 innings of work while holding opponents to a .203 batting average.

Callum Pilgrim leads the Blue Raiders with a .519 batting average with seven home runs, 26 RBIs and 22 stolen bases. Makea-Al Kaluau is chipping in with a .435 batting average adding eight home runs and 31 RBIs.

The pitching trio of Annabelle Ramirez, Hannah Epperson and Taylor Slade are shutting down opposing offenses. Ramirez leads the bullpen with a .82 earned run average on 42.2 innings pitched with 61 strikeouts. Epperson has been just as impressive with a .91 earned run average and 38 strikeouts, while Slade maintains a 2.72 earned run average on 38.2 innings pitched with 22 strikeouts.

Midway (12-16) returns to action after falling to Pikeville on Thursday, March 28, 5-2 and 9-8. The Eagles as a team are batting .270 with a .324 on-base percentage.

Baylee Woods is chipping in for the Eagles offense with a .309 batting average and has a team-high of 19 RBIs this season. Hannah Poynter is the Eagles ace on the mound with a 2.40 earned run average on 49.2 innings of work and 23 strikeouts.

Tuesday's matchup marks the 23rd meeting with Lindsey Wilson leading the series at 21-1 all time. The last matchup occurred in 2018, in which Lindsey Wilson split the doubleheader, winning game one 4-3 and then falling in game two 5-7.
